Is it safe for my skin?
Yes. MARL is formulated without parabens, synthetic silicones, PEGs or phthalates. Nigella oil actively soothes and protects your skin barrier while it works. If you have particularly sensitive skin, we recommend a small patch test first, as with any new product.
How does the leave-on scrub texture feel?
It applies as a smooth cream with a very fine mineral grain. As you rub it in, the crushed alum particles provide a gentle micro-exfoliation, then dissolve completely to leave your underarms feeling powder-dry and smooth.
Is there a transition “detox” period?
No. Because MARL combines antibacterial nigella oil with an active alum mineral shield, it works from your very first application. There is no smelly adjustment phase.
Is it for men too?
Completely. Stubborn, strong sweat smell isn’t a gendered problem, and neither is the fix: the same two actives work the same way for everyone. Soft Cotton & Woods is a natural, gender-neutral scent.
Does it contain aluminium? Isn’t that what I’m trying to avoid?
Alum (potassium alum) is a natural mineral and technically an aluminium compound, so we won’t claim “aluminium-free.” But it is chemically different from the aluminium chlorohydrate used in antiperspirants, and it works differently too: those block your sweat ducts, while alum forms a surface barrier that helps stop odour-causing bacteria multiplying. We chose effectiveness over the badge, and we want you to know exactly why.
Will this work if I sweat heavily, or as well as an antiperspirant?
MARL doesn’t stop or reduce sweat. It’s a deodorant, not an antiperspirant, and we’re upfront about that. What it does is stop sweat from smelling. Even if you sweat heavily, the two actives work on the odour-causing bacteria. You’ll still sweat, but you won’t smell.
